Cooking Camp....with Paula Deen!!!!

Ha, Ha! Monkeys always look. No, silly, Paula didn't come to our house for cooking camp, but wouldn't that be a hoot if she did? Oh, she and Tyner Beth would have LOADS to talk about, no doubt. But anyway, Paula did make a "guest apperance" in our kitchen, in the form of this cookbook the children received for Christmas:

And as you can imagine, there are lots of YUMMY recipes between the covers. To start us off, we opted for a simple, but creative, chocolate chip cookie on a stick.

  • Why only two chefs this night? Because the third was laid up in bed with strep throat....and therefore, kind of like leprosy, he was deemed "unclean" for cooking camp. Sorry, charlie....but there's always next time, and besides, we SHARED our cookies with the infirmed. :)

  • This required some serious "squishing" together of the cookie dough, around the lollipop stick.

  • See what I mean? Now, that's bad enough on a clean hand.....did you want strep throat victim in here patting them out? Exactly.
Look at these beauties! And they tasted good, too. We used miniature reese's pieces and toffee bits for decorations. And Tyner Beth crafted out some "initial" cookie treats to take to Emma's sleepover.

GREAT JOB kiddos! They look very yummy! Brenna has this cook book- the peanut butter cookies are GREAT and so simple. We lucked up and got to see Paula not too long ago on a trip to her restaurant in Tunica. She was feeding some children from St. Jude. She's quite a gem.
