Friday Night Lights: Edition #2 BHS @ Northside

So, it wasn't the outcome we wanted. They were big. We were not. They had lots of athletes.
We had several injuries. And many of their players only had to play one side of the ball. We have a lot of boys who play both ways. They are also a 4A school. But still one of our biggest rivals.

You win some, you lose some, and this goes down as a loss. But rest assured,
our boys played with heart and class. And my captain gave a handshake to begin the game,
and then lead the handshake line at the end of the game. Was he happy about it?
Well heck no, but there is no time to sulk, that game has passed.

And honor and class never wait, they charge forward regardless of the outcome.

O Captain, My Captain....

Elder Son was named as one of the captains for this week's game.
The boys are usually informed at the last practice of the week,
and from what I can gather, they are chosen according to the effort given
in the previous week's game as well as that week of practice.

I am proud of Elder Son, for working hard, on and off the field.
And for striving to become better, each day, on and off the field.

Life is rarely ever determined by the mere flip of a coin.

But be certain you are prepared when the toss is made.

Rah Rah Ree....

JV football began this week
and so it's time for Baby Girl to do her cheer thing!

Oh. So. Cute.

When I say "she's a cutie"

You say "yes, she is!"

Friday Night Lights: Edition #1 BHS @ Marion Co.

Football season is my absolute FAVORITE time of year.
And I have big hopes of documenting this season in particular...Elder Son's SENIOR year!
We traveled to Marion County for the opener, a region match up.

Getting the "W" on that first Friday night is a pretty awesome feeling.
Having your firstborn score a touchdown during it is priceless.

As always, we have the prettiest cheer squad around.

My favorite player.

He is so good looking.

Happy these two guys are getting to experience this senior football season together.

TOUCHDOWN!!!

Be still my heart.

Elder Son had a lot of fun Friday night.
And he played well, once he loosened up and the nerves settled a bi.t
~8 tackles, an interception and a 54 yd punt return for a TD!
I am proud.

Of seniors, sisters and sweat....

There will be many of these "last/first" moments this year for Elder Son.
And on Friday it was the last first pep rally of the season.
The gym was hot.
The cheerleaders were sweaty.
And during the highly favored hug line that ensues at the end of each pep rally,
a funny role reversal was noticed.
The girls were all apologizing for "being so sweaty".

H has been one of Elder Son's best friends since they were 5.

Close enough to be his sister.

Sisters enjoy torturing their brothers.
Especially wiping sweat on them.

And look, here's Baby Girl getting her a big pick up hug from Elder Son too.

And now for some real sweaty hugs after the game!

Baby Girl was proud of her brother.

Seniors 2015
ENJOY THESE MOMENTS!
Great bunch of kids.

Baby Girl celebrates!

She doesn't like icing. Never has.
So, she got her usual, strawberry cupcakes minus the frosting.

Big gulp of air in....

And blow it out!

And a nice dinner date with family to celebrate some more!

One picture can say it all.
That's exactly what I think about her becoming a teenager, too.

First Day of School 2014

In this photo you will find:
a SENIOR (oh my lands, I am getting old)
a Sophomore (who will be driving later this year)
and a brand spanking new TEENAGER (I should just give up now.)
