Powder Puff Football Game

Years ago, as in decades of years ago, they used to play a game of Powder Puff football in the fall. And on some occasions, the girls were often scrappier than the boys had been on Friday night. Due to a couple of questionable melees, powder puff games became nonexistent.

Until now, wherein we turned the girls loose yet again to duke it out....without pads and helmets.
The Freshman class played the Sophomores, the Juniors played the Seniors, and then the two winners battled it out to become Powder Puff Champions. It was the Juniors that actually won the championship. But alas, my boys were the coaches for the Sophomores and Seniors so this post is primarily dedicated to furthering their own coaching careers and not the play of the games. :)

Because I am the mama and this is my blog, so that's how it goes.

Elder Son and one of his best friends since Kindergarten strolling across the field.

The Middle Child with his coaching staff,
complete with their very own bullhorn, play folder and coaching hat.

Not to give it away, but all of their plays were the names of candies.
As noted here with their Twizzlers sign. They also had candy corn, gummy bear, atomic bomb, sweetart, etc. etc. (As TheMiddleChild told me....it was easier for the girls to remember.)

Don't even laugh for a minute....this is serious stuff.
You never know---watch Gus or Nick or any other of the head guys in SEC play
....they may be stealing candy names any day now for their own playbooks.

Sweet Senior girls. Loving these moments.

Intrasquad at Gymnastics

To kick off the competition season, each year the optional girls have a little intrasquad.  It's also what the Alabama gymnasts (and probably many other collegiate teams) do to get into meet mode. This year our girls were divided into two teams, the NINJA TURTLES vs. WITCHES.

Ninja Turtles--Bailey, Aeriel, Ivy, Haven, TB and Red

Witches--Analeise, Anna, Sania, Reagan, Kaitlyn, Morgan

Their tough look. (I'm not buying it)

My little ninja turtle did a great job!
Oh and the pink bandanas were in honor of breast cancer awareness month. The boys always get to bring out their pink socks, pink mouthpiece, pink this and pink that for their football games during October, so Baby Girl wanted to be able to wear pink in her sport as well!

Sunday Funday with a little cat perspective

Doesn't Allie look so pretty? She enjoyed us being outside!

So, last Friday night Elder Son experienced the horrible state of failure to punt. Just a panic reaction that resulted in him not getting a punt off and subsequently being tackled, on our own 3 yd line. Ugh.

The weather was beautiful in our hometown on Sunday, and after church and lunch, we took to the backyard for some family fun time, with a little punt practice thrown in the mix.

"oh, look, this should be exciting, riveting even,
the humans are going to play with that odd shaped ball today"

We practiced "rushing the punter"...

We practiced "shield your skull before you get kicked in the face"

"Seriously. Would you look at the picture right here below me.
I thought they were humans, but maybe they're monkeys."

We practiced "snapping"

Taking "good snaps"

As well as "bad snaps"

"Wait a minute. Wait just a minute. They are letting the old guy play?
This can't turn out well."

"Well, I'll be dang. Would you look at that...that boy can punt the ball."

"Of course, I loose all respect for him yet again as soon as he touches
that flea infested, hyper active, annoyance they refer to as the dog."

Friday Night Lights: Edition #8 BHS vs. Marion Co (again)

There will be a whole post about this incident....a bit later on the blog.
Sure it looks innocent enough...but the aftermath was terrible.
The horrible, terrible, no good kind of thing.

And this shot, while better, still proved to not be a great punt either.
Granted, better than the first, but still not good.

Elder Son had one redeeming good spot on the night...

He and Big E make a hole for Troy...

Who pops right out...

AND SCORES!

Coach and Cheersponsor Wife share in the "uh-oh" midfield win tradition!

I spy a Baby Girl and her beau. ;)

T5 and his friend talk it over after the game.

Some of my absolute favorite peeps!
